Privacy Policy

The short version: no accounts, no ads, no tracking, and nothing that could identify you unless you choose to give us your email. Cobra Chicken sends us anonymous usage stats so we can tell which parts of the app actually get people out of bed, and you can switch that off inside the app. If you write to us through the app's feedback form, we get what you wrote.
What we collect
Three things, and only from Cobra Chicken, plus anything you choose to send us through the feedback form (see below).
- An anonymous install ID. When the app first runs it makes up a random number for itself, then hashes it before it ever leaves your phone. It is not your Apple ID, not your device's advertising identifier, and not anything Apple or anyone else can trace back to you. Its only job is to tell one installation apart from another so a week of data is not read as a hundred different people.
- How the app is used. Events like an alarm being set, a wake-up game being started, solved, failed, or given up on, how long that took, which difficulty mode you picked, which screens you opened and roughly how long you stayed on them, and how long the app was open. Times are recorded as an hour of the day and a day of the week, never as a place or a precise timestamp.
- What kind of device it is. The model identifier (the "iPhone17,1" sort of name), the iOS version, the screen size, the text size you have iOS set to, and the country your phone is set to. This is so we can tell whether a layout is broken on small screens, or a bug only happens on one iOS version, instead of guessing. It is not your device's name, which often has a real person's name in it, and we do not collect that.
The one thing, and your task text
Cobra Chicken lets you keep one task, and a goose reminds you about it. The words you type there never leave your phone. Not to us, not to anyone. Apart from feedback you choose to send us, it is the only free text in the app, and we treat it that way.
What we do record about it is the shape of how the feature is used: that a task was set, whether you gave it a deadline and roughly how far ahead that deadline was, whether you finished it, how long it stayed open, whether you ticked it from the lock screen or inside the app, and how the reminder settings are configured. We also record the length of the text in a rough band, so we know whether the field is big enough for real tasks. Rough means "short, medium, long", not a character count, and never the characters themselves.
Feedback you send us
Cobra Chicken has a feedback form. If you use it, we receive what you typed, the app version and the phone model, and your email address only if you switch on I want a reply. The form tells you this before you send. We use the email once, to answer you, and for nothing else.
Feedback is stored on our server at Cloudflare, and a copy may be forwarded to the person who makes the app through Telegram. It is not linked to your anonymous install ID or your usage stats, and your IP address is not stored with it. To have a message deleted, email support@dopaminesafari.com.
What we deliberately do not collect
No name or phone number, and no email address unless you give us one for a reply. No contacts. No location, precise or approximate. No photos, audio, or anything you typed, including your task, apart from feedback you send us. No device name. No advertising identifier. No health data. We could not email you if we wanted to, unless you have asked us for a reply.
What stays on your device
Your alarms, your schedule, your settings, and your history stay on your phone, managed by the app and the standard features of iOS. If you delete the app, they go with it.
You can turn it off
In Cobra Chicken, open Settings (the gear, top left) and switch off Share anonymous usage. Sending stops immediately and anything still waiting to be sent is thrown away. The app behaves exactly the same either way: nothing is locked behind it, and it does not nag you about it.
Who processes it
The usage stats go to TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service based in Germany, which stores them for us under the GDPR. They are not used for advertising, not combined with data from anywhere else, and not sold or shared with anyone. There is no advertising network, no data broker, and no cross-app tracking in any Dopamine Safari app. Feedback goes to our own server on Cloudflare, as described above.
Why we collect anything at all
To make the app better at its one job. Knowing that a particular wake-up game gets abandoned at four in the morning, or that people quietly move to an easier mode after a week, is the difference between fixing the right thing and guessing. That is the whole purpose, and it is the only purpose.
What the App Store label says
On our App Store page, Cobra Chicken declares two kinds of data: a Device ID (the hashed install ID above) and Product Interaction (the usage events above). Both are marked as used for Analytics only, not linked to your identity, and not used to track you across other companies' apps or websites. That is why the app never shows you the "allow tracking?" prompt: there is no tracking to allow.
Apple and the App Store
Apple collects its own download, crash, and usage figures for every app on the App Store and on TestFlight, and shows them to us in aggregate. That is Apple's process, separate from ours, and is governed by Apple's privacy policy.
This website
dopaminesafari.com runs on Cloudflare, which keeps standard server logs. Some of our links, for example the ones we post alongside videos, pass through a short redirect on this domain so we can count how many people clicked each one. That counter is a number per link, nothing per person.
Children
Our apps are not directed at children under 13. Apart from an email address someone chooses to give us for a reply, nothing we collect could identify a child or anybody else.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
