Privacy Policy

The short version: no accounts, no ads, no tracking, and nothing that could identify you. Cobra Chicken sends us anonymous usage stats so we can tell which parts of the app actually get people out of bed, and you can switch that off inside the app.
What we collect
Two things, and only from Cobra Chicken.
- An anonymous install ID. When the app first runs it makes up a random number for itself, then hashes it before it ever leaves your phone. It is not your Apple ID, not your device's advertising identifier, and not anything Apple or anyone else can trace back to you. Its only job is to tell one installation apart from another so a week of data is not read as a hundred different people.
- How the app is used. Events like an alarm being set, a wake-up game being started, solved, failed, or given up on, how long that took, and which difficulty mode you picked. Times are recorded as an hour of the day and a day of the week, never as a place or a precise timestamp.
What we deliberately do not collect
No name, email address, or phone number. No contacts. No location, precise or approximate. No photos, audio, or anything you typed. No advertising identifier. No health data. We could not email you if we wanted to, because we have no idea who you are.
What stays on your device
Your alarms, your schedule, your settings, and your history stay on your phone, managed by the app and the standard features of iOS. If you delete the app, they go with it.
You can look at it, and you can turn it off
In Cobra Chicken, tap the wordmark ten times to open the hidden debug menu, then choose Analytics events. It lists every signal exactly as it would be sent, so you can audit us rather than take our word for it. The same screen has a switch that stops the sending entirely. The app works exactly the same either way.
Who processes it
The usage stats go to TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service based in Germany, which stores them for us under the GDPR. They are not used for advertising, not combined with data from anywhere else, and not sold or shared with anyone. There is no advertising network, no data broker, and no cross-app tracking in any Dopamine Safari app.
Why we collect anything at all
To make the app better at its one job. Knowing that a particular wake-up game gets abandoned at four in the morning, or that people quietly move to an easier mode after a week, is the difference between fixing the right thing and guessing. That is the whole purpose, and it is the only purpose.
Apple and the App Store
Apple collects its own download, crash, and usage figures for every app on the App Store and on TestFlight, and shows them to us in aggregate. That is Apple's process, separate from ours, and is governed by Apple's privacy policy.
This website
dopaminesafari.com runs on Cloudflare, which keeps standard server logs. Some of our links, for example the ones we post alongside videos, pass through a short redirect on this domain so we can count how many people clicked each one. That counter is a number per link, nothing per person.
Children
Our apps are not directed at children under 13, and nothing we collect could identify a child or anybody else.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
